A new agency, the Health Service Executive (HSE), assumed responsibility for the health service in the Republic of Ireland on January 1, 2005.

As part of the Irish government’s Health Service Reform Programme, the functions of Health Board, including the North Eastern Health Board, have transferred to the HSE.

The former North Eastern Health Board is now under the auspices of the Health Service Executive and is known as HSE - North Eastern Area.

The North Eastern Health Board website, www.nehb.ie, is now an ARCHIVE SITE but is available to view for public information purposes. All references on this site that refer to the North Eastern Health Board or logo should now be regarded as Health Service Executive - North Eastern Area.
