  • Reduction in morbidity ( Reduce; Blindness by 40%, Amputations by 40%, Cardiovascular events by 20%).

Access

  • Everyone with Diabetes should access a structure program of care which covers all aspects of their Diabetic care.

Cost

  • Reduction in overall bed days by 40,000 per year.     
  • Develop a Retinopathy Screening Programme for Diabetes to prevent blindness from diabetes.
  • Develop a foot care screening and treatment service to prevent foot ulceration and subsequent amputation.
  • Develop an Integrated Care Programme for Diabetes to improve diabetes control
  • Develop a National Diabetes Register.
  • Develop a Care Package for diabetic children including the Implementation of Insulin Pumps for children.
