HSE Child and Adolescent Health services are guided by standards set out in a number of strategic reports including Best Health for Children – developing a partnership with families (1999) and the revised edition, Best Health for Children Revisited (2005); Get Connected – developing an adolescent friendly health service (2001); and Investing in Parenthood (2002). The HSE provides a range of services specifically for children. Certain services are provided free of charge for children even if their parents do not have a medical card. These services are generally provided as part of the Maternity Infant Care Scheme, health services for preschool children and school healtlh services. Children are also entitled to free immunisastion services.
