European Health Insurance Card

The European Health Insurance Card or EHIC (formerly the E111 form) allows the holder to access health care services when travelling to other EU or EEA countries. Anyone who is living in Ireland or intends to live here for a year can apply for an EHIC from the HSE. Choose from the options below to learn more, or to find out how to apply.

Remember - there IS NO charge for the EHIC card, it is a free public service. Anyone asking for money IS NOT connected with the HSE.

E111 sea Apply for EHIC - Details of how to apply by post, or online. Remember, for an online application, you need to be registered for the Medical Card or Drugs Payment Scheme.

EHIC Renew Renew your EHIC ONLINE If you have your old EHIC number, your PPSN, and your address is unchanged, you can renew your card online. If your address has changed since you received your EHIC or you don't have your EHIC/PPS number, then you must contact your Local Health Office to process your renewal.
