This website is designed to keep you up to date on plans and developments for health services in Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Meath.
The HSE is working in the North East to develop the most modern, integrated, safe, patient focused service that has ever been devised in this country. This will take at least five to seven years to fully implement and will be based around one new regional hospital, with outlying local hospital and community services providing the majority of your health needs.
In the meantime the HSE has given a clear commitment that as health services in the region are developed, existing services will remain in place or be developed to meet current need, until they are replaced with higher quality, safer and more appropriate services.
This will also facilitate greater involvement of operational management, staff and staff representatives as we go through planning towards implementation.
North East Transformation Programme 2007 – 2010
The Teamwork Implementation project has made reasonable progress since its inception last year particularly in terms of developing significant buy-in including amongst clinicians to the need for the changes proposed to improve the safety and quality of community and hospital services.
In order to build on the momentum created already, and to provide the necessary energy to accelerate the implementation of the proposals outlined in the teamwork report, a need has been identified to provide greater support and structure to the implementation process. Accordingly the HSE has recently decided to raise the Teamwork Project up to the status of a full programme within the 13 Transformation Programmes that make up the overall HSE Transformation 2007 to 2010.
It has been decided that the North East Transformation programme is the priority for HSE and will be resourced accordingly. Stephen Mulvaney has been appointed as a full time dedicated Programme Manager to take full executive responsibility for the NE Transformation Programme.
The Programme Manager is putting in place sufficient project management and programme management supports to enable progression through the detailed planning, detailed design and implementation phases with a viewing to confirming the feasibility of, and meeting the objectives that have been targeted for mid 2009. This will also facilitate greater involvement of operational management, staff and staff representatives as we go through planning towards implementation.
