The CEO of the North Eastern Health Board, Mr. Paul Robinson has welcomed the announcement today by the Minister for Health and Children, Mr. Michéal Martin TD to provide investment for the Cavan/ Monaghan Hospital Group.

Mr. Paul Robinson acknowledged the work of the Steering Group, which was chaired by Mr. Tadhg O Brien, Assistant CEO and included Medical and Management staff from both the Cavan and Monaghan Hospital sites. The CEO also extended thanks to Mr. Finbar Lennon, Medical Advisor to the NEHB and to the RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) and particularly Professor Arthur Tanner, Director of Surgical Affairs, RCSI for their assistance.

The CEO said 'In view of this announcement we will now be prioritising the recruitment of the five NCHD's in Anaesthetics in order to place Monaghan Hospital back on call for medical emergencies.'

Commenting on the announcement, Tadhg O Brien, Assistant CEO said 'Now that the funding has been agreed, the Steering Group will finalise their report.'
