Community Nursing (Public Health Nursing)

This is more commonly known as the Public Health Nursing service and involves regular visits to those living in their home environment. It involves follow up visits following discharge from an acute hospital, supervision of Home Care Assistance and Home Help Service nursing procedures such as dressings etc.

The community nursing service also includes assessment of care needs, health promotion and advice, home nursing for older people and those with disability. In addition it also includes Palliative Care nursing dealing with terminal illness where curative intervention is no longer possible.
